White Rapids Ranch is located on 60 acres just 7km south of Nanaimo. We purchased this historic property in 2005 and decided to try our hand at raising cattle. We found that to simplify marketing, many local cattle farmers ship their cattle to auction in Vancouver. They are bought by a couple of different feed lots in various provinces, processed and invariably, some are shipped back to the Island to your favorite grocery stores frozen in boxes. With the rising price of grains, more and more local farmers are shipping their cattle as feeders rather than keeping them on the Island.

We thought we'd try a different, more environmentally friendly approach to selling our products. You have always been able to purchase sides and quarters of beef from a farm but this year you will be able to customize a beef package for your family. You can pre-order a standard package of our "Island Raised Meat" or customize your own cuts. All of our beef is processed locally by a government inspected facility. Why send our beef off the island when we can consume it here? Fill your freezer with home grown, all natural meat and reduce trips to the grocery store.

Also on the ranch we have a small apple orchard with some historic varieties, holly, a 60 vine vineyard and a half-acre garden. We are naturally growing Fruits & Veggies for sale. We believe that everyone is entitled to natural, pesticide and hormone free food. We have gone back to the basics to promote healthy eating and "an inconvenient lifestyle"!!
